What were you asked to do?
In our task we asked to create a corporate video for a group or groups from Redbridge CVS. We were asked to show what each group does and include footage to show evidence of what they do.
Who/What were you making a video about?
Me and my group were making a video about Basis. Basis works with other groups such as Awaaz, Faith Forum, Redbridge music lounge, DAWN and many more. What me and my group were making our video about is what Basis does and how they help the other groups, what the groups benefit out of this and we also showed how they helped these groups.
What was the purpose of the video?
The purpose of the video was to represent Basis and show what they do. As we were set to film about Basis, we had to film and discuss more than one group as Basis is about helping groups and working with them. The purpose of the video was to get an understanding of how they help groups that are working with them, also to tell us a bit about the groups and what they do.
What did you do in each production stage?
Pre-Production-
In the Pre-production, me and my group planned the date we will go and interview Maddy (Development Coach). The interview is based in Ilford so we had to see if we could go during one of our media lessons. Another task in pre-production was I had to arrange the questions which Maddy had to answer in the interview. The reason why i had to send the questions to Maddy was because so she knew what we would be asking her on the interview day and also to save time, as she wrote the answers to the questions before hand and I held them up for her to read during the interview, so it was easier.
Production-
In the production stage we filmed Maddy (Development Coach) at Redbridge CVS based in Ilford about Basis. This is when we interviewed her, and we did this during lesson time as it was easiest and she had free time to do the interview. In the production stage I went with my group to interview Maddy, and I clarified and said what Maddy had to say in the interview. We were going to try and film other groups we did not have footage for such as 'Peachy' or 'DAWN' but we were more focused on getting the video together and try to film later if we had time.
Post Production-
In the post production stage we started editing the interview we recorded and adding images and other footage together. In this stage we were using a Mac and the program iMovie to put the video and images together. What I did in this stage was i helped in putting some of the video together such as the images and extracting audio, replacing footage with images in between the video so the sound plays over the image. Here i also found images for the video. I found images for the groups which we did not have video/images for example we did not have video/images for Faith forum.
What Problems did you encounter and how did you solve them?
The problems we encountered during this task was the footage and videos we had were to long as in total the video came to around 4 minutes 30 seconds. This was a problem as the video was a bit boring as we had a certain amount of footage of the other groups, and some groups were missing images/videos. We resolved the problem of the video being to long as we cut some scenes and footage out as some stuff was being repeated.
What were your Strengths and weaknesses in each stage?
My strengths in this task were helping out and making decisions when editing the video and putting it together. As I was not very good using the Mac, I contributed my idea's and discussed with my team mates what works well and seeing what goes. My other strength was setting up the interview questions. Here i arranged the questions and I covered the main aspects of what needed to be said in the interview.
My weaknesses in this task were using a Mac and iMovie program. This was a weakness as I was not to familiar with some of the keys and how to replace video/images with other videos, such as deleting scenes from the interview we recorded and replacing this with video/images.
What is your opinion of the finished Product?
My opinion on the final product is i think it is good overall, it explains what Basis is and is about, tells us how it helps other groups, explains a bit about each group and also tells us what they do to help these groups. The visual side I think needed more images/footage in some of the groups which didn't have images/videos as this would give us an insight on these groups, but other than that I thought the video overall was good.
